LADARVision® CustomCornea® & LASIK in Bakersfield, California

LADARVision® CustomCornea® is the most advanced FDA approved LASIK vision correction system available for hyperopia, myopia, and astigmatism treatment. Available to our Bakersfield, California patients, this technology allows a level of precision previously unheard of. Before LADARVision®, ophthalmologists could only perform myopia treatment and treat lower order aberrations of vision quality.

Correcting these vision problems could achieve the standard of 20/20 vision, but could not resolve issues with glare and halos that are usually apparent in low light settings. LADARVision® gives our LASIK physicians the ability to address these higher order aberrations while performing lower order aberration and myopia treatments to our Bakersfield, California area patients.

Performing Hyperopia, Myopia, and Aberration Treatment

LADARVision® CustomCornea® allows our LASIK physicians in Bakersfield, California to measure miniscule imperfections in the corneal surface using a new technology called “wavefront.” This advanced treatment is the new standard of quality for improving hyperopia (farsightedness) and myopia (nearsightedness) issues. The procedure starts by directing flat light waves through the patient’s eye. As the light waves reflect off the retina and exit the eye, a device captures the rate at which they return and compares them to an ideal wavefront. Any variations are recorded and a 3-dimensional map is made to represent both lower and higher order aberrations.

This map becomes the guide for the excimer laser which is used to reshape the surface of the cornea and improve vision. The map of the eye is electronically transferred to the laser so that the LASIK eye surgery procedure only targets removal of the identified distortions. A tracking device is used to monitor slight movements of the eye while the procedure is being performed. This information is recorded and used to accurately align the laser for absolute precision while reshaping the cornea.
